Anti-UV additive and Anti-Oxidant are the breakthrough additives for plastics. Increase the weather resistance, color and mechanical properties of the product.
As we all know, the life of plastic is significantly reduced under the influence of sunlight, UV rays, humidity and temperature of the environment as well as oxidation. These factors cause the plastic to fade over time, and significantly reduce its mechanical properties. Making products after a short time of use are brittle, weak, and fragile. To prolong the life of plastic, the Additives were born to overcome this!
1. Anti-UV additive (Anti-UV particles)
Plastic products are inherently polymer linked chains. When in ideal environmental conditions, these chains all link very well, achieving high sustainability. However, when exposed to sunlight, it quickly ages. The main cause comes from the radiation of ultraviolet rays. These radiations contain a lot of energy, bombarding polymer molecules causing them to break their bonds and quickly become damaged.
Moreover, the high temperature causes the polymer molecules to move at maximum speed, causing the bonds to break and the formation of free radicals. These free radicals will be active, causing a chain reaction that breaks down the polymer structure. Even during this reaction, they also bind with oxygen molecules, increasing the rate and degree of decomposition.
Anti-UV additive with the content mixed into the plastic are usually very small, accounting for only 0.5% to 2%, but are very important, helping to absorb most of those radiations.
To choose an anti-UV additive for plastic products, there are usually 2 main factors to keep in mind:
Firstly, depending on the sunlight flux at each different location, the UV-blocking particles will have their absorption spectrum adjusted to ensure the best match with local climatic conditions. At the same time, meet the requirements of price and quality according to product requirements.
Secondly, the plastic resin base is also a decisive factor when using anti-UV additives. Because each plastic substrate has different reactions to the active ingredients in it, and at the same time, the mechanical and physical characteristics of each plastic substrate are also different. Therefore, in order to achieve the best final product, it is necessary to have the most in-depth research and analysis of customer requirements, coming from a team of experienced professionals like at Dai A.
2. AntiOxidant Additive
Oxidation is a concept that is very familiar to everyone in this day. Oxidation occurs with a lot of materials around us, including plastic. As mentioned above, plastic products in the process of being used in the environment, beside UV rays, when exposed to oxygen or some other impurities present in the air, will also easily react and create free radicals.
And to prevent and reduce this oxidation process, AntiOxidants will scavenge free radicals by adding electrons. When a free radical molecule gains an extra electron from an antioxidant molecule, the free radicals become stabilized and are no longer capable of damaging the product.
Antioxidant additives are often used together with anti-UV additives for plastic products used outdoors with high temperature and humidity such as: water tanks, agricultural tarpaulins, marine aquarium linings, woven fabrics, body shells for motorcycles, cars, etc. Helps increase mechanical properties and product life, and can be used for a long time in all weather conditions.
With such outstanding benefits and features, these two additives are increasingly widely applied in life, not only Vietnam but Dai A has exported this additive to more than 20 markets around the world. The process of consulting, testing samples and testing production is absolutely accurate, along with production processes that meet European standards. Dai A always ensures to provide customers with the most suitable services and products for local climatic conditions, as well as optimal product prices according to the requirements of each customer.
